Charting China’s services trade

China's services trade trails its prowess in good. China exports 13% of global goods, but only 4% of services. From 2009-18, China accounted for 19% of growth in global goods exports, but only 4% in services. In 2018, China ran a $314 billion services trade deficit, largely due to travel. China's reliance on goods exports is particularly acute relative to other major economies.
